Doesn't happen often...
But I'll be busy the next few weeks, and the reason is all over the Texas news...Haven't been sent to "the compound" yet, but my shift with the removed children is coming soon. Not sure if the hotels will be cron friendly, and not sure I'll really care...

Not what I'd call a good breakfast

My son sent this to my cell phone at 6 am. Yep, my kitchen floor. yep, a snake.
You heard of Snakes on a Plane
here's the sequel, Snake in my Kitchen
Can't find nutrition information, so not sure if it's CRON Friendly. But the Chinese apparently use them in soup.

The month thus far...
I've been playing around with macro nutrient ratios. I'm finding that I really feel better and function better with lower carbs and higher fats, protein. Like even my hair and skin look better. It's keeping weight off better too, since I'm only running 40 miles a week, rather than the 70 I was running last summer.
As far as cutting out the carbs, pretty much no white flour, no white rice, no white sugar. My weight is back where it was before I started the job, 126-127 and there's much less hair in the hair brush. So carbs come mainly fron veggies - brocoli, cauliflower, leafy greens including kale, spinach and chard.
And there is a new addiction: Emerald Cocoa Roasted Almonds. Absolutely to die for. And it comes in a club size!

Here's the week's crunch. Honestly, the calories have been closer to 1700 or 1000 depending on daily activity. So here's the average.

This employment thing can sure get in the way of life...
One of the duties of my job is to write "narratives" about the people I speak with all day. Which isn't hard for me, but when i get home, like tonight at ten pm, it makes it really hard to sit down and type. At work, we have a dictation service. We can either call in our dictation, or write hand written notes, fax them in, and within a couple of hours, it all shows up neatly typed in the email box. Very cool. Makes me wonder who does this all day, sitting around somewhere and getting my scribbled note with arrows and marging notes to turn into a pretty document.I hope this poor person gets paid well. It's a cool service.
The landline is gone and i haven't missed it.
Oh, yeah, this is my cron blog. Calories have been a bit higher, 1600-1700 range. Otherwise, pretty boring. i'm in a food rut and it doesn't bother me a bit! I've been trying to get better about weighing and measuring, so I'm most likely not eating more than I have been, just more diligent about entering every bite. No more unaccounted for almonds!

Weekly update, kind of...
It's been a nutty week, literally. People keep bringing sweets to the office, so I sit in my little office and eat almonds. At least the few minutes i've actually been in the office this week.
I've run out of calcium chews, and need to get more, obviously.
In other news, we're going to bite the bullet and cancel the landline phone and be wireless people. Anyone else do that yet? Good, bad, no difference in life? Really, we all have cell phones in our family and could save a bunch dropping the landline and dsl (got a cable modem instead).

Quick, honey, the kale is on fire
As in flames coming from the microwave kale is on fire. I had no idea the stuff was even flammable, yanno? And you won't believe this, but I could not even find flaming kale images anywhere, so you'll have to use your imagination on this one. The stuff ought to come with a warning label. I should sue... um, gee, who makes Kale. Should I sue God? I only had it in the microwave for 3.5 minutes, something I have done before. 3.5 minutes and ignition. Houston, we have a problem.
Ran the Houston Marathon on Sunday in 4hours and 46 minutes, my best time in a while. Thanks for all the well wishes!
And since the first half took me 2:25, I ran the second half faster, what we in the biz call negative splits, which is very desirable. Didn't really weigh and measure food that day, or on Monday, which was a staff meeting/day long grazing session. Okay, so I did try to log yesterday a bit and it was probably about 1700 calories by the end of the day, mostly carbs. Today, better, and now we're back in serious CR mode. Haven't run since Sunday, so don't need extra calories, although I am trying to get good protein for recovery. Here's today's numbers. Sodium is high, ate an asian grilled chicken salad at McDonald's without dressing, but other that that, I'm feeling better.
